A long time ago, I made a series of remixes I called, Stimulated Remixes. I've said this a million times, but I never knew where that stuff wound up. One day, I was browsing youtube and the next thing I knew, I discovered my work was in foreign dance schools, on radio, in the clubs and... in the streets of Paris. The video above is a tribute to FEMININITY & FREEDOM by the infamous Parisian dancer/choreographer Laure Courtellemont and her crew, Jayane, Queensy BLAZIN', Berode and Fatou Terra.

You can checkout the collection of remixes here. It's been a while since I made anything like this... Hmmm....

GROW SOMETHING!

Everywhere I go, I plant a garden.

Everywhere I go, I try to plant a new garden. It provides the best tasting herbs and produce, in addition to a quite a few peaceful, meditative moments. It's cheap, easy and simply beautiful. It doesn't matter where you are. If the possibility exists, grow something.

Something about gardening is meditative... Event the plants themselves are very calming and therapeutic.

I never thought I'd be good at gardening. A lot of the plants in my very first garden didn't make it. However, it's not hard at all.  Once you get it, you can just relax.  It's just sun, water and air.

tHumpday #1! Explore

tHumpday #1

Welcome to tHumpday, a weekly post where I pick 4 or more hot indie tracks from artists all over the world. Future or Nu-Soul, electronica, chill, house, hiphop, jazz...old...ancient...new... Whatever I love, I post. Every Wednesday, starting today!

Those who know me well know I'm all about the indie artist. You know...the person or group that's not that major FM radio station (especially in the U.S.) that plays the same songs a million times all day every day. It's the person or group with no major label, but whose music is of a high caliber. Lend me your ear and check out this post every week. You might find something new and necessary.

Support these artists. They could use the support much more then (insert celebrity name here). With that said...

Anderson .Paak

P.Y.P.
from O.B.E. Vol. 1 by Anderson .Paak
Oxnard, California

This man blows up more after each release! Hard work pays off. From some time ago, a bit of older material from artist and producer, A.Paak.

Zaki Ibrahim

Draw The Line
from Every Opposite by Zaki Ibrahim
Johannesburg, South Africa

This woman has come so far and she keeps going... I'm a fan of Zaki, especially some of her house work... like this piece. A bit of electronic goodness from the woman with great range.

Jordan Rakei

Talk To Me
from Cloak by Jordan Rakei
Brisbane, Australia

This mans growing body of work seems to continue to take up more hard drive space...and this is a great thing. Talk To Me is a cool nu-jazz-ish piece, but if you like that, I encourage you to dig deeper and check out more of his work all over the internet.

Up Up We Go!

It's Alright
from Up Up We Go! EP by Up Up We Go!
New Orleans, Louisiana

We all need a bit of funky funk in our lives. Something like this would definitely be in my Sunday playlist.

James Tillman

Love Within
from Shangri La EP by James Tillman
New York, New York

Simply, beautiful... I really don't need to taint this piece with words.

Well...

That's it for this week. Let me know what you loved or hated in the comments below or get in touch! If you love what you hear, please support these artists. Without you, they cannot grow. Until the next time...

Dear Fans, THANK YOU!

I'd like to thank everyone who bought, supported, commented on, retweeted, facebook'd, Instagramed, SnapChated, Youtubed, Pinterested, Tumblr'd, shared, blogged and, once again, purchased Letters to Kyoto. Thank you so much! I'm happy to get in touch with all new supportive appreciators. Without you, this beautiful music endeavor cannot grow.

I would especially like to thank VSCO, 23.5 and their entire staff of phenomenal indivuals, Alan Algee and the entire Kyoto creative team, without which none of this would be possible. If you haven't seen the film, please check out Parts I & II and all of the associated content here.

I've reposted some of the tweets, comments and messages from appreciators here. Much love to all of you! If you'd like to check out Letters to Kyoto, its on Bandcamp.

I'm so happy to receive these messages. It's as if I wrote the letter and people responded. Often times, indie musicians can live in vacuum, where there is little or no feedback from fans or the rest of the universe for that matter. Much love to those in Australia and the United States, where most of my recent appreciators seem to be at the moment.

Fantastic job on the music. Kyoto Part 1 quickly became one of my favorite short films and I watched Part 2 and it does not disappoint. The soundtrack fits perfectly with the visuals and I just wanted to let you know that you killed it.”

Communication via art has always been a bit fascinating to me. As a musician, speaking through drums, chords and melodies, it offers an extended vocabulary that can emote feelings and tell stories without the use of verbal language.

I really wanted to pay homage and respect to a place I never knew, a place I hope to know. After absorbing a plethora of knowledge and feedback from viewers, I'm even more intrigued and anxious. A trip will happen. It must.

Thanks man! I really love your work and I think it’s kinda unappreciated, but you have a new fan. The film really struck me deep... I don’t know if it was me thinking back on my Japanese heritage or my love for VSCO and the arts, but I can’t wait until the 9th when part 2 drops.”
— Mr. King

I would like to think of myself as a giver in world full of like minded givers and some takers. I believe in giving back and paying it forward. To show my appreciation, I'm going to send everyone a personal email and free copy of my latest release, Sensual Electronic Music.

I really hope you join me on this journey of artistic exploration and sonic inquiry. I've been making music for years and I'm just starting to release pieces now. There are hundreds of pieces in my archives. Slowly, but surely, some of it will be set free. I hope you enjoy!

The Sade House Remix

Have you heard the remix of this Sade classic? It just aired on the Aaron Byrd Show on KCRW in Los Angeles!!!

Antigua Deep penned, War of the Edit, an edit/remix of one of the many loved Sade songs, War of the Hearts. Loving the words in the middle of the song. This pieces is very percussive and even though the four is on the floor, it's still ever so Sade'esque.

War of the Edit.

From Antigua to Los Angeles, it's nice to be listed among so many phenomenal creators. There is a lot of hotness on the show!! Plus the theme or sentiment of the show is quite timely.

I believe being on a public radio station makes me a public servant. So when the country endures tragedies like the ones we’ve experienced the last couple of days, it is my responsibility to use my platform to reflect the sentiments of many. I attempted to do so with my show last night.”
— Aaron Byrd

Check out the show here. War of the Edit is nicely blended in around the 1:45 mark. The show will only be up until Next Thursday (I think).

Antigua deep will be releasing what I think it is a quality record called, She is the Poem in August via Lofty Recordings. Stay tuned!
